The historic East Barnard Community Hall provides a safe and inviting place to offer social events that brighten the lives of folks of all ages.

Maybe you’ve been to a dinner, performance, dance, fair, art class or other gathering here?

But the hall is over 100 years old and needs some work to remain the center point for community gatherings. With your help, we can replace the leaky roof, upgrade lighting, and add insulation … so the hall can be used even in the isolating months of winter and mud season.

Phase 1:

The East Barnard Community Club (EBCC) is currently raising funds to replace the leaky standing-seam metal roof, insulate the building, and improve lighting. Your donation can help preserve this building and make it possible to offer energy-efficient use of the building in colder months. The goal is to raise $100,000 in 2026 and to complete these repairs in 2027.

Phase 2: 

In addition, other issues need to be addressed. Further planning from community members will help prioritize next steps.

Future projects include:

·      Implement plans to avoid future flooding

·      Create solutions for easier access to the building

·      Replace repair-prone furnace with an energy-efficient unit

·      Further insulate the building for year-round use

·      Additional improvements to the basement level

Recent steps:

Volunteers and donations have made it possible to begin improvements to the hall. Thanks to support from the community, we’ve been able to repair the front entry porch, remove the old drop ceiling, improve the stage curtains, paint the upstairs room, and refinish the wooden floor. In addition, with grants from the Philip D. Levesque Memorial Fund and the Rotary Club of Woodstock, we were recently able to replace the aged kitchen stove with two ranges. We are so grateful for these gifts of time and funds!
